WELCOME ABOARD CAP'N!

There's a huge floatin' shin-dig happenin' across the water. She's gonna be elbow to elbow over there so we need to round up a bunch o' boats, fill 'em with boozed-up locals, and get their asses over there before dock space is gone!

IT'S EASY!

  1. Get a boat in the water
  2. Fill it with people
  3. Dock it at the location

THE HAND

Each player gets a hand from the draw pile. There are 3 types of cards you can get: Boats, People and Events. At the start of your turn you get game currency (beers) that you can spend to play cards from your hand.

THE GOAL

Your first goal is to get a boat in the water, then start filling it with people. Once the boat is full, you dock it at the location and score points. When the Location is full the game ends.

Player Feedback
"I love the game, we always have a blast when we play!!! The cards and their actions keep you on your toes and you really get into trying to get your boats docked and taking down other people. We would recommend it to anybody!"

Card Types

LOCATION CARDS (10 total)

There is a single Location that all players are trying to reach. The number beside the beer icon is the amount of beers per turn each player can spend. The number beside the life jacket icon is the amount of people required to end the game.

BOAT CARDS (25 total)

Boats carry people to the location. The number beside the beer icon is the cost to put the boat into play, the number beside the life jacket icon is the boat's capacity.

PEOPLE CARDS (65 total)

When people cards are played, they board a boat. The number beside the beer icon is the cost to play this card, the number beside the life jacket icon is the amount of people on the card.

EVENT CARDS (25 total)

Event cards have a cost and an effect. The number beside the beer icon is the cost to play the card. There are a variety of powerful and unique effects offered by these cards.

Setup

SHUFFLE

Separate the 10 Location cards from the deck and shuffle them. Pick one randomly to be the location for this game and put the rest away. The other 115 cards make up the draw pile. Shuffle the draw pile and place it face down near the middle of the play area. If the draw pile runs out reshuffle the discard pile to replenish it.

STARTING HAND

Give us Feedback
How did you hear about Lakebilly? (from a Friend? on Google? from a game site?)

Each player takes 7 cards from the draw pile for their starting hand. The most sober person at the table plays first.

SPENDING BEERS

On a player's turn they play cards from their hand by spending beers (game currency). The amount of beers a player can spend per turn is on the Location card next to the beer icon. Use pennies or bottle-caps to keep track of beers as players spend them. The player may play as many cards as they wish as long as they can pay for them.

TURN OPTIONS

PLAY A BOAT CARD

The first action a player should take is to play a Boat card. Boat cards are placed face up in front of the player. The player must have a Boat card out before they can board a People card on the boat. A player can have as many boats in play as they like as long as they can pay for them. Boats can have effects that impact gameplay, so stay alert for bonuses!

PLAY A PEOPLE CARD

When a People card boards a boat, pay it's cost and place it face up near the Boat card indicating that they have boarded. Every time a People card boards a boat, the card effect takes place if applicable. A boat cannot be filled above it's capacity. A People card cannot be played without a boat to board.

PLAY AN EVENT CARD

Event cards are played anytime during a player's turn. The Event card itself will provide a cost and details on how it is played. Some Event cards say 'play this card anytime', these can be played during other player's turns.

DOCK A FULL BOAT

When a boat reaches its maximum capacity of people (number beside the life jacket icon), it docks at the Location. Move the Boat card next to the Location and discard all of the People cards on board. The boat is now docked at the location and remains there until the game ends. Docked boats are permanent and are immune to events and effects.

END OF TURN

KEEPING CARDS

The player may play as many cards as they wish as long as they can pay for them. The player is not obligated to play all of their cards and may keep cards in their hand when their turn is over.

REDRAW

At the end of a player's turn they may discard any number of unwanted cards from their hand. They then redraw until they have 7 cards in hand. If a player already has 7 or more cards in hand they do not draw.

LEFTOVER BEERS

Unspent beers do not carry over to the next round! At the end of a player's turn they may give away any unspent beers as drinks to other players. Game currency is referred to as beers. A sip of the beverage in your hand is a drink.

ENDING THE GAME

The Location shows the amount of people a single player must dock there to end the game. People on undocked Boats do not count toward this total. Once any player reaches or exceeds this number, the final round begins. All other players now get one last turn before the game ends.

THE WINNER

The winner is the player who has the most people at the Location at the end of the final round. If 2 or more players have the same amount of people at the Location, the winner is the player with the most people on undocked boats. If there is still a tie, the winner is voted by the table. The winner gives away 1 drink for every person they have at the Location.

NOTES

TRAITS

People Cards can have Traits that influence gameplay. The possible Traits are: Sober, Hot, Underage, Skanky, Lakebilly, and Hammered. Be alert for effects that give bonuses to People cards with Traits.

VOTING

Some card effects require the table to vote. In the event of a tie vote, the Player who played the card decides the final outcome.

SHUFFLING

People cards may only be moved from the boat they board by special card effects. No shuffling from boat to boat.

OPTIONS

Some cards contain optional effects. These effects come into play if the player of the card decides they take place.

MULLIGAN

If a player's first hand does not contain a Boat card they may take a mulligan by discarding the entire hand and redrawing a new one.

BEERS vs DRINKS

Game currency is referred to as beers. A sip of the beverage in your hand is a drink.
